Why did you move to Bad Dinosaur?

I came to an event that Bad Dinosaur was hosting in the Sugarbond two and a half years ago. Fanbase (Bad Dinosaur client) were there talking about MVPs, it was really interesting. I really liked the people and the vibe, so the name always stayed in the back of my mind. Then when I saw the job advertised recently I recognised the name and jumped for it!

How did you get into design?

In my high school in Tunisia you’re encouraged to pick a subject to focus on, and I chose math. l always had a creative side though, and didn’t really get to express it so much in maths. I decided to change it up at uni and take a really creative course about all facets of design, but then I found that I also missed the logic of maths! After a lot of experimenting in various disciplines I landed on design and front-end development, a nice combination of creativity and logic. I think I’ve found the right mix!

How do you feel about starting remotely?

It’s not the best, but it is what it is. I can’t wait to see everyone in person, outside of their little squares on Zoom. I’ve never had a remote full time role but I’ve done freelance work so I know what to expect and how to cope with working in isolation. 

Got any interesting hobbies?

I make instagram filters! One of the filters I’ve made really took off recently on TikTok, last time I checked it had 10million impressions which is crazy. It’s a game where you guess the country name based on a sort of dingbats quiz. I just wish I got paid for it!

Favourite computer game?I am also into photography & videography. I don’t get to do it as much these days, but when I was 18 I created my first short  for a local film festival in Tunisia, it then went on to be shown in Glasgow, London, and Italy. It was abstract - about how society deals with differences in people, the struggles of self-acceptance, centering around a girl who has a facial birthmark. 

Favourite computer game?

I don’t play computer games, I had a Playstation 1 but that was the end of my gaming career. I do love board games and card games though, I like LUDO, and a card game called President, and of course Rummy is a blast. I haven’t played them in a long while, because of lockdown, but I’m looking forward to getting some friends together to play after lockdown. If I were to pick a video game it would be Spyro the Dragon. I lit the look of that one.

What was the last book you read?

Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. It’s about investments and how to make your money work for you, I saw some people posting about it on social media so I picked it up - yet to finish it though!

If you could live anywhere aside from Edinburgh, where would it be?

New York City. I want to try to live in a very busy, noisy, place. I loved living in london, but I’d like to try another country next. I’ve been watching things like ‘Master of None’ and SNL and other things filmed in NYC which has piqued my interest. 

What gig are you most looking forward to once we can again?

I’ve never been to a music festival so I want to go to one when we can again. I’m thinking about going to Download or Primavera. If I can find a festival with Tame Impala on the line up then I’ll be getting a ticket for sure.

What's your favourite dinosaur?

Spinosaurus, because they swim (which is pretty cool), and they’re originally from North Africa! 

Would you rather be able to talk to land animals, animals that fly, or animals that live underwater?

Land animals because I want to talk to cats. I love cats, I have a lot of cats back home on the farm, but not here. I’d ask them what’s on in their mind because they’re such enigmas, so impossible to understand.
